If you're a business owner who wants to increase brand awareness, demonstrate your knowledge and build trust with your customers, video is the best tool at your disposal, but where do you start?

Creating videos for your business can be a daunting process, but it doesn't have to be.

Everyone is now carrying a video powerhouse in their pockets. Not only can you record your videos using your phone, but you can also edit them, publish them and promote them.

Smartphones have made video marketing accessible to everyone.

Simply take your phone out, open the camera app and hit record. To prove this, I made the video above using only my phone.

As you create more videos, you'll start to learn what works and what doesn't. You'll get faster at making them, learn new techniques and may even invest in some equipment to take your videos to the next level.

Two pieces of equipment that should be at the top of everyone's list is a tripod and lighting.

The tripod will hold your camera still, giving you the freedom to move around in frame, and the lighting will make sure your face doesn't plunge into eternal darkness.

At the core of every video, make sure to be your authentic self, and more importantly, provide value. If your video doesn't give your customers any value, there's not much point in posting it.
